Ecodec upgrades its sorting centre for the Guadeloupe region

3 July 2025

Simplified sorting for all residents from 2026

From 1 January 2026, all residents of Guadeloupe will be able to sort all packaging and paper, including pots, trays, plastic films and beverage cartons.
This major development will simplify recycling habits and strengthen local recycling performance across the entire territory.

A modernised sorting centre supported by Citeo

To support this transition, Ecodec is upgrading its Guadeloupe sorting centre with the essential backing of Citeo, which is financing nearly all the work, €5.2 million out of a total investment of more than €6 million.

Objectives:
• Adapt equipment to new packaging streams
• Ensure high-quality sorting
• Increase regional recycling performance

Ecodec, a major recycling player in the Caribbean

Ecodec is far more than a sorting centre. The company is a leading recycling operator in the Caribbean, with complementary activities including:

  • Sorting of selective collections in Guadeloupe
  • Recycling of end-of-life tyres into chips, granules and rubber powder
  • Reception and recovery of cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, plastic films and wooden pallets
  • Production of innovative eco-materials: GwadaBwa, GwadaPark, GwadaDrain and GwadaGlass

Through these initiatives, Ecodec plays an active role in the ecological and circular transition of Guadeloupe and the wider Caribbean.
