A new milestone for recycling in Guadeloupe!

7 July 2026

On 25th June, we had the pleasure of officially inaugurating the modernised sorting centre of Ecodec, alongside our partner Citeo, local authorities, and stakeholders committed to the ecological transition of the region.

This modernisation marks a significant milestone for Guadeloupe. 🚀

Since 1st January 2026, all residents can now place all their packaging and paper into the yellow bin: yoghurt pots, trays, plastic films, food cartons… A simplified sorting gesture that required an industrial tool capable of meeting this new challenge.

Thanks to over 6 million euros of investment, our sorting centre has been completely modernised with state-of-the-art equipment enabling:
✅ to improve sorting performance;
✅ to increase processing capacities;
✅ to optimise the quality of recycled materials.

Ecodec already processes nearly 7,700 tonnes of recyclable household packaging each year and will now be able to accommodate an additional 1,000 to 1,500 tonnes annually.

Beyond the inauguration of a facility, an entire region is equipping itself with the necessary means to develop the circular economy, enhance waste recovery, and support the evolving sorting habits of the people of Guadeloupe.

👏 Thank you to all the Ecodec teams, to Citeo, and to all the partners who contributed to the success of this pivotal project.
