The teams from Energipole Remediation have completed the first phase of the asbestos removal and deconstruction project for the school in the city centre, paving the way for future archaeological excavations within the territory of the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL).
📍 A technical site in the heart of the city, carried out adjacent to a church and a neighbouring garage, in immediate proximity to residential homes and the town hall.
🔎 Work completed:
✔️ Clearance of 650 m² of building with sorting of 7 waste streams
✔️ Asbestos removal from a prefabricated structure of 100 m² of ground area and 50 m² of asbestos-cement roofing
✔️ Separation of adjoining properties, deconstruction of superstructures, and demolition of infrastructures
✔️ Structural reinforcement and treatment of retained walls
✔️ Management of asphalt contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) through thermal desorption via our Verdipole platform in Santes and recycling of materials resulting from the demolition ♻️
🌱 A particular focus on reuse:
♻️ Reused school furniture, sanitary facilities and basins
♻️ Timber framing (oak beams)
♻️ Refurbishment of 9 classroom bungalows for our future living bases 🟢
📅 Resumption and completion of works from September 2026 (phase 2), before the construction of 23 rental homes certified RE2020 and BEE+, scheduled for early 2027.
