🚀 Giving an industrial dimension to innovation: this is precisely the role that Energisource France will play in the European Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen ECO2BIEAU project, officially launched this week in Douai.
Alongside IMT Nord Europe, the project leader, and partners such as the Scientific Institute of Public Service – ISSeP, Ghent University, Lille University, and Cycles Verts, Energisource France will contribute to the development of industrial demonstrators aimed at validating, in real conditions, the eco-materials resulting from research work.
On the occasion of the launch, Samira Brakni, Head of Development & Innovation at Energisource (a subsidiary of Energipole Remediation), presented our contribution to the project, notably highlighting the industrial wasteland in Eppeville currently undergoing transformation, which will host future industrial demonstrators. A full-scale site that will facilitate the transition from research to experimentation, and then to the deployment of innovative solutions.
Over the course of four years, ECO2BIEAU will develop construction eco-materials for the management and treatment of water, incorporating biochar, a plant-based charcoal produced from biomass through pyrolysis. A true carbon sink, it enables the sustainable storage of CO₂ while imparting new properties to construction materials.
This cross-border project perfectly illustrates the complementarity between research, industry, and regions to accelerate the development of concrete solutions in favour of decarbonisation, sustainable water management, and the circular economy.
We thank all our partners for their trust and look forward to contributing to the next stages of this collective adventure.
